Palms of Goa, Charlotte Street

We always seem to get a bit stuck when looking for a curry house in the West End, so when after a couple of beers round Goodge Street my friend suggested ‘a ruby’, I recalled seeing ‘Palms of Goa’ on Charlotte Street and suggested we give it a go.

After the poppadoms - which were good and crispy - we decided to by-pass the starters and go ’straight in for the kill’. I had a chicken korma which, although included tiny bits of pistachios, was a bit tasteless. My friend ordered his and the nation’s favourite chicken tikka masala, which he seemed to enjoy. The rice was a little on the starchy side.

The best bit of the meal was the naan bread; we had peshwari which was freshly cooked and still nice and warm.

The waiters were reasonably friendly and efficient. With a couple of beers, the bill came to £32 which I think is a little expensive for what we had, but then I guess we were in the West End!
